About Us

MiniUP was founded by Amira Jackmon, a public finance attorney with nearly 20 years of experience securing funding for major public infrastructure projects. As she negotiated with major development firms on behalf of government agencies, Amira realized that public infrastructure projects were increasingly distant from the community members they were meant to serve. Inspired by the microfinance model of Kiva, she set out to build a platform to democratize public finance and give communities the power to fund projects in line with their values.

MiniUP is blazing the trail with people-powered public finance, a revolutionary model for public infrastructure development that allows community members to invest directly into projects that impact their lives and align with their values. MiniUP promotes public infrastructure projects that are environmentally sustainable, equitable for all members of the community, and aimed at generating both economic and social profits for all.
